I was given this soon after birth, but it was kept on a high shelf in my closet and I rarely read it --oddly, I have no memory of the poems, but a very intense recollection of a childish passion for Miss Taroone, the lady described in the introduction.
Looking at it as an adult, I like some of the traditional ballads, but do not think them especially suited for children. ( )

Not only an anthology, but contains a lengthy essay by de la Mare as well as notes on the poems. ( )

A collection of poetry for kiddos, from Chaucer on up. It's a nice collection, and pretty extensive. ( )
