Loading... Does God Exist?: An Answer for Today (original 1978; edition 2006)by Hans KungDoes God exist? Or has he perished under the philosophical rubble of history's countless generations? Philosophers from Aristotle to Sartre Dramatist from Sophocles to Beckett have attempted to formulate answers to serve the needs of their contemporaries. In this book the author seeks to answer and redefine the age old question for today's world. Honest effort by a liberal theologian to answer the question 'Does God exist' in the affirmative. When I was ~20 I found it useful to reconcile my skepticism with my church activism. That is not possible anymore. Reading it now, I find its premises highly questionable and unsatisfactory. Incidentally, Kung was removed from teaching Catholic theology at the university for some of his liberal activities that didn't play well with Ratzinger (now the pope). |
