Brother B. M. Paul, of Boston Division No.61, died after a lingering Illness, January 20, 1878.

MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA, Dec. 9, 1877.

On Sunday afternoon Brother Thomas Mannion was suffocated in the Gas Works, which he was operating in connection with a plumbing and gas fitting establishment. The Marshall Statesman says: Mr. Mannion was a gentleman well and favorably known in our community, and his loss will be sadly felt. Poor Tom! dead-but never to be forgotten as long as we are permitted to turn the thumb screw of a gas pipe. Kind, generous, open-hearted Tom! We knew him well, and knew him only to love him for his many noble traits of character. The head of the fountain of light sleeps the sleep that knows no waking on earth forever. Brother Mannion Joined our Division only a short time previous by card from Racine ivision No. 27, Freeport, Ill. Brother Mannion's remains wers taken to Freeport for burial, the funeral being attended by the largest concourse of people ever witnessed in Freeport.

At a regular meeting of Marshalltown Division Brother N. P. Furnald, of the same Division, died No. 146, B. of L. E., held at Engineers' Hall, First November 25, 1877.
