51 And Jacob rofe up from Beertheba: and the feas of Ifrael carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the waggons which Praraoh had fent to carry him.

6 And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his feed with him:

7 is fons, and his fons' fons with him, his daughters, and his fons' daughters, and all his feed brought he with him into Egypt.

8 And there are the names of the children of Ifrael which came into Egypt, Jacob and his fons: Reuben, Jacob's first-born.

9 And the fons of Reuben; Hanoch and Phallu, and Hezron, and Caṛmi.

10 And the fons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the fon of a Canaanitish

woman.

11 And the fons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

12 And the fons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah: Lut Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the fons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

18 And the fons of Ifachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.

14 And the fons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jablecl.

Jofeph meeterb bis father. Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter,. and the bare thefe unto Jacob: all the fouls were feven.

26 All the fouls that came with Jacob, into Egypt, which came out of his loins, befides Jacob's fons' wives, all the fouls were threefcore and fix.

27 And the fons of Jofeph, which were borne him in Egypt, were two fouls: all the fouls of the houfe of Jacob, which came into Egypt. were threefcore and ten.

28 And he fentJudah before him unto Jofeph to direct his face unto Goshen ; and they came into the land of Gothen.

29 And Jofeph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Ifrael his father, to Gofhen; and prefented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

30 And Ifrael faid unto Jofeph, Now let me die, fince I have feen thy face, becaufe thou ar yet alive.

31 And Jofeph faid unto his brethren, and unto his father's houfe, I will go up, and fhew Pharaoh, and fay unto hi My brethren, and my father's houfe, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me.

20 And unto Jofeph in the land of Egypt were born Manaffeh and Ephraim, which Afenath the daughter of Potipherah prieft of On bare unto him.

Jofeph prefenteth five of his brethren, and his father bejore Pharaoh. 11 He giveth them babitation and maintenance.

THEN Jofeph came and told Pharach, and faid, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Gothen.

2 And he took fome of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

3 And Pharaoh faid unto his brethren, 21 And the fons of Benjamin were Be-What is your occupation? And they faid lah, and Becher, and Afhbel, Gera, and untoPharaoh, Thy fervants are shepherds, Naaman, Ehi, and Roth, Muppim, and both we, and alfo our fathers. Huppim, and Ard.

22 Thefe are the fons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the fouls were fourteen.

23 And the fons of Dan; Hushim. 24 And the fons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.

25 Thefe are the fons of Bilhah, which

ying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:

6 the land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Gothen et them dwell: and if thou knowest any zen of activity among them, then make em rulers over my cattle.

And Jofeph brought in Jacob his ther, and fet him before Pharaoh: and Jacob bleffed Pharaoh.

8 And Pharaoh faid unto Jacob, eld art thou?

9 And Jacob faid unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

10 And Jacob bleffed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

11 ¶ And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a potfeflion ia the land of Egypt, in the beft of the land, in the land of Ramefes, as Pharaoh had commanded.

20 And Jofeph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians fold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: fo the land became Pharaoh's.

21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof 22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion afigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them : wherefore they fold not their lands.

25 Then Jofeph faid unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land, for Pharaoh: lo, here is feed for you, and ye fhall fow the land.

24 And it fhall come to pafs in the increafe, that ye fhall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts fhall be your own, for feed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.

25 And they faid. Thou haft faved our lives; let us find grace in the fight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's fervants.

26 And Jofeph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh fhould have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's

17 And they brought their cattle unto Jofeph and fofeph gave them bread in exchange for horfes, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the afes: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

28 And Jacob lived in the land of E. gypt feventeen years: fo the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.

29 And the time drew nigh that Ifrael mult die: and he called his fon Jofeph, and faid unto him, if now I have found grace in thy fight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:

SO But I will lie with my fathers, and thou thalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying-place. And he faid, I will do as thou haft faid.

18 When that year was ended, they came unto him the fecond year, and faid unto him, We will not hide is from my 1 lerd, how that our money is spent my lord alfo hath our herds of cattle; there is not aught left in the fight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

31 And he faid, Swearunto me. he fwear unto him. And Ifrael bowed himself upon the bed's head.

CHAP XLVIII. Jofeph vifiteth his fick father. 3 Jacob repeateth the promise ; 21 and prophefi

eth their return.

AND it came to pass after these things, that one told Jofeph, Behold, thy father is fick and he took with him his two fons, Manaffeh and Ephraim.

19 Wherefore fhall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land 2 And one told Jacob, and faid, Bewill be fervants unto Pharaoh : and give hold, thy fon Jofeph cometh unto thee: us feed, that we may live, and not die, and Ifrael ftrengthened himself, and fat that the land be not defolate.

Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in

4 And faid unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy feed after thee for an everlasting poffellion.

5 And now thy two fons, Ephraim and Manaffeh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are nine; as Reuben and Simeon, they thall be mine.

6 And thy iffe, which thou begetteft after them, thall be thine, and thall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

7 And as for me, when I came from Padan. Rachel died by ine in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath; aud I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the fame is Bethlehem.

8 And Ifrael beheld Jofeph's fons, and faid, Who are these?

9 And Jofeph faid unto his father, They are my fons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he faid, Bring them I pray thee, unto me, and I will blefs them. 10 Now the eyes of Ifrael were dim for age, fortat he could not fee. And he brought them near unto him; and he kiffed them, and embraced them.

11 And Ifrael faid unto Jofeph, I had not thought to fee thy face: and, lo, God hath fhewed me alfo thy feed.

12 And Jofeph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

13 And Jofeph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Ifrael's left hand, and Manafeh in his left hand toward Ifrael's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

14 And Ifrael ftretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manaffeh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manalleh was the firstborn.

15 And he bleffed Jofeph, and faid, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Ifaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

16 The Angel which redeemed me from all evil. blefs the ads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Ifaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

211 And Ifrael faid unto Jofeph, Behold, I die: but God fhall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers,

22 Moreover, I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my word and with my bow. CHAP. XLIX.

AND Jacob called unto his fons, and faid, Gather yourfelves together, that I may tell you that which shall befal you in the last days.

2 Gather yourfelves together, and hear, ye fons of lacob; and hearken unto I rael your father.

3 Reuben, thou art my firft-born, my might, and the beginning of my ftrength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power.

4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; becaufe thou wentelt up to thy father's bed; then defiledft thou it: he wup to my couch.

5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; Instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. 6 O my foul, come not thou into their fecret; unto their affembly, mine honour, be not thou united; for in their anger they flew a man, and in their felf- . will they diggel down a wall.

7 Curfed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Ifrael.

8 Judah, thou art be whom thy brethren fhall praife: thy hand ball be in the neok of thine enemies; thy father's children thall bow down before thee.

9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my fon, thou art gone up: he tooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; Who shall roufe him up?

32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein, was from the children of Heth.

33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his fons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghoft, and was gathered unto his people. CHAP. L.

AND Jofeph fell upon his father's face and wept upon him, and killed him.

2 And Jofeph commanded his fervants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Hraci.

S And forty days were fulfilled for him for fo are fulfilled the days of thofe which are embalmed: and the Egyptians giv-mourned for him threefcore and ten days.

22 Jofeph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

23 The archers have forely greived him: and fhot at him, and hated him : 24 But his bow abode in ftrength, and the arms of his hands were made ftrong by the hands of the mighty God of lacob; (from thence is the thepherd, the ftone of Itrael :)

4 And when the days of his mourning were paft, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, faying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, fpeak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, faying,

5 My father made me fwear, faxing, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there fhalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

6 And Pharaoh faid, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee fwear.

11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, faw the mourning in the floor of Atai, they faid. This is a grievious mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abci. mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hiit-as be commanded them: tite for a poffeffion of a burying-place.

And his fons did unto him according

Abraham bought with the field for a poffeffion of a burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

14 And ofeph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up! with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

15 And when Jofeph's brethren faw that their father was dead, they faid, Jofeph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him

16 And they fent meflengers unto Jofeph, faying, Thy father did command before he died, faying,

20 But as for you, ye thought evil againft me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pafs, as it is this day, to fave much people alive.

21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

22 And Jofeph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's houfe: and Jofeph lived an hundred and ten years.

23 And Jofeph faw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children alfo of Machir the fon of Manaffeh were brought up upon Jofeph's knees. 17 So fhall ye fay unto Jofeph, Forgive, 24 And Jofeph faid unto his brethI pray thee now, the trefpafs of thy brethren, I die: and God will furely vifit you, ren, and their fin: for they did unto thee and bring you out of this land unto the evil: and now we pray thee, forgive the land which he fware to Abraham, to Itrefpafs of the fervants of the God of thy faac, and to Jacob. father. And Jofeph wept when they spake unto him.

18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they faid, Behold, we be thy fervants.

19 And Jofeph faid unto them, Fear not: for, am I in the place of God?

25 And Jofeph took an oath of the children of Ifrael, saying, God will furely vifit you, and ye fhall carry up my bones from hence.

264 So ofeph died, being an hundred and ten years old and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

CHAP. I.

NOW thefe are the names of the chil dren of Ifrael, which came into Egypt every man and his household came with Jacob.

2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, 3 Iffachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

treasure cities, Pithom and Raamies.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Ifrael.

13 And the Egyptians made the chiliren of Ifrael to ferve with rigour :

14 And they made their lives bitter vith hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the

hem ferve, was with rigour.

Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Ahereld all their fervice, wherein they made 5 And all the fouls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy fouls: for Jofeph was in Egypt already.

151 And the king of Egypt fpake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name 6 And Jofeph died, and all his breth-of the one was Shiphrah, and the name ren, and all that generation.

7 And the children of Ifrael were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding nighty; and the land was filled with them.

8 Now there arofe up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Jofeph.

9 And he faid unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Ifrael are more and mightier than we :

10 Come ouder us deal wifely with them; left they multiply, and it come to pafs, that, when there falleth out any war, they join alfo unto our enemies, and fight against us, and fo get them up out of the land.

11 Therefore they did fet over them tafk-mafters to aff &t them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh'

16 And he aid, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and fee them upon the ftools; if it be a fon, then ye thall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then the thall live.

17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but faved the men-children alive.

18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and faid unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have faved the men-children alive?

19 And the midwives faid unto Pharaoh, Becaufe the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives:
