Avoir and être are called auxiliary verbs, because they help in the conjugation of other verbs. THE AUXILIARY VERB "AVOIR.” (Compound Tenses.) This Verb is its own auxiliary. Compound tenses are formed by adding to the auxiliary the past participle of the verb which is being conjugated. (This tense is formed with the present conditional of the J'aurais eu tu aurais eu il or elle aurait_eu auxiliary.) (I should have had) nous_aurions_eu ils or elles auraient_eu Exercise 19.
