VERS DE SOCIÉTÉ.

With Illustrated Title

and Vignettes, drawn by JOHN A. MITCHELL, and Engraved by HENRY MARSH. 8vo, cloth, gilt, $7.50; fuil levant morocco, $15.00.

"If we have ever seen a daintier piece of book-making, we have forgotten it. The paper is of the usual cream tint of fine books, but where the page is printed a darker color has been laid in, and this, in turn, surrounded by a border of lavender-a color suggestive of the elegancies. On the title-page Cupid is represented with his uncle's lyre, singing his vers de société. He is before the foot lights, the director's wand is guiding him, the orchestra accompanying him, and a lady and gentleman interested in his themes watching him from a private box. The binding, like everything else about the book, is beautiful and entirely new. In the upper right-hand corner of the front cover Cupid, with crush hat, gloves and opera glass, reclines, supported by a vine of morning-gloryemblem of coquetry. The vine passes downward across the cover, and across the back to the lower left-hand corner of the under cover, where Mr. Holt's owl is holding on to it for dear life. On the back of the book a half-open fan hangs from the morning-glory vine, and on the front cover a domino mask."-N. Y. Evening Post.

Mr. John

One of the most exquisite books ever printed. A. Mitchell, whose grotesque of "The Seasons" has been so popular, and has drawn some of the most charming bits imaginable for centre-page titles, preceding the poems of separate authors. These have been put upon wood by Henry Marsh, of Boston, thought by many to be our best engraver, and nothing in fact has been spared to make the book perfect."-N. Y. Evening Mail.
