with all boldness, as always, so now also, Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. Phil. i. 20.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude 24, 25.

45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John viii. 32, 36.

46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thy hand.

Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a

huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the Lord, he delivered them into thy hand. 2 Chron. xvi. 7, 8.

Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known unto him the interpretation.

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts', and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men,

and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified.

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Dan. v. 17-28.

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Rom. i. 16.

47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

Let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. Psalm v. 11.

Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. Psalm cxii. 1.

48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. Prov. i. 5.

My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman. Prov. vii. 1-4. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching

daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. Prov. viii. 34.

ZAIN.

49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

The word of the Lord is tried. Psalm xviii. 30.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. Psalm cxliii. 1.

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. Heb. vi. 18.

50 This is my comfort in my affliction for thy word hath quickened me. Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law. Psalm xciv. 12.

Wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. Eccl. vii. 12.
