Lord quicken me according to thy judgments.

I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them, according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. Isa. Ixiii. 7.

They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon. Hosea xiv. 5-7.

And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judah a certain prophet, named Agabus.

And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep, and break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. Acts xxi. 10-13.

158 I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.

The Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and

set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:

Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and woman: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark. Ezek. ix. 4–6.

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. Acts xvii. 16.

(God) delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds.) 2 Peter ii. 7,

159 Consider how I love thy precepts quicken me, O Lord, according to thy loving-kindness.

Showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Ex. xx. 6. Since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the

eye seen, O God, besides thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. Isa. lxiv. 4, 5.

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee. Jer. xxxi. 3.

Whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected. 1 John ii. 5.

ever.

I know, that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. Eccl. iii. 14.

Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the

mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old. Micah vii. 20.

SCHIN.

161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. Prov. xiv. 26.

Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.

And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:

Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.
