1. If U=0, V = o, be the equations of two quadrics referred to their common self-reciprocal tetrahedon ABCD, investigate, in Dr. Salmon's form, the equation of the developable generated by the tangents to their curve of intersection UV, in terms of the two fixed covariants TT', and the five fundamental invariants ▲▲', 00', and Þ, of U and V.

2. In the same case show also, geometrically or otherwise, that every generating line of the developable in question determines, with the four vertices A, B, C, D of the tetrahedron of reference, a pencil of four planes having the same anharmonic ratio.

3. A variable line, turning round a fixed point aßyd, intersects any two fixed quadrics U= o, Vo, in four points having a constant anharmonic ratio; find, by any method, the equation of the cone it generates.

4. Der Krieg nahm eine für Zürich ungünstige Wendung; alle Eidgenossen waren der Stadt entgegen. Sie schloss einen Bund mit dem Hause Oesterreich. Aber es wurde um so unglücklicher gestritten, da die Stadt selbst in Parteien getrennt war, und weder die

Unterhandlungen des Friedens noch die Waffen, so wie sie es für gut hielt, führen konnte; bis nach grossen Schlachten sie zuletzt wieder sich selbst überlassen, in die Vorschläge einwilligte, welche ihr vor Eingreifung jenes äussersten Mittels geschehen waren.
