Boor (God's mercies to the).

He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.-Job xxxvi. 15.

The poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.-Psalm x. 14.

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.--Psalm xii. 5.

I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me.-Psalm xl. 17. The Lord heareth the poor.-Psalm lxix. 33.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust.-Psalm cxiii. 7.

Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Matt. v. 3.

Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.—Luke vi. 20.

The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. -Lam. iii. 24.

Poverty of the just better than wealth of the unjust.

A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.-Psalm xxxvii. 16.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.James v. 16.

The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers.-1 Peter iii. 12.

Tropitiation (Christ our).

All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus;

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.-iii. Rom. 23, 24, 25.

He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.-1 John ii. 2.

He loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.— 1 John iv. 10.

Refuge in trouble ( God our).

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.—Psalm xlvi. 1.

Regeneration through Christ.

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.-2 Cor. v. 17.

Reproach for Christ's sake brings glory.

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.-1 Peter iv. 14.

Let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.1 Peter iv. 19.

Resurrection of the body through Christ.

I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.-Job xix. 25, 26.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.- 1 Cor. xv. 20, 21.

Besurrection of Christ

Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead.-2 Tim. ii. 8.

Zighteous (the) are under God's protection.

He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction ; Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.-Job xxxvi. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.

The righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.-Psalm xi. 7.

God is in the generation of the righteous.-Psalm xiv. 5.

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.-Psalm xxxiv. 15.

The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.-Psalm xxxiv. 17.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.-Psalm xxxiv. 19.

The Lord upholdeth the righteous.-Psalm xxxvii. 17.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.-Psalm xxxvii. 23, 24, 25.

The salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.-Psalm Xxxvii. 39. 40.

Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.-Psalm lviii. 11.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Psalm xcvii. 11.

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous.-Psalm cxviii. 15.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life.-Prov. x. 16.

The righteous is an everlasting foundation.-Prov. x. 25.

The way of the Lord is strength to the upright.- Prov. x. 29.

The righteous is delivered out of trouble.-Prov. xi. 8.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.-Prov. xi. 30.

The righteous hath hope in his death.-Prov. xiv. 32.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure.—Prov. xv. 6.

He loveth him that followeth after righteousness.-Prov. xv. 9. When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.-Prov. xvi. 7.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.-Prov. xviii. 10.

Sighteousness better than riches.

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. -Prov xvi. 8.

Righteousness the path to eternal life.

Righteousness delivereth from death.-Prov. x. 2. xi. 4.

Righteousness tendeth to life.-Prov. xi. 19.

In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.-Prov. xii. 28.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.-Matt, v. 10.

Sacramentof salvation (the) instituted by Christ.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.-Matt. xxvi. 26, 27, 28.

And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
