The Lord came down to save me,
Because He loved me so.

2 I'm glad my blessed Saviour
Was once a child like me,
To show how pure and holy
His little ones might be ;
And if I try to follow

His footsteps here below,
He never will forget me,
Because He loves me so.
3 To sing His love and mercy,
My sweetest songs I'll raise;
And though I cannot see Him,
I know He hears my praise;
For He has kindly promised,
That even I may go

To sing among His angels,
Because He loves me so.

ARK! the herald-angels sing
Glory to the new-born King;
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled: "
Joyful all ye nations rise,

Join the triumph of the skies:
With the angelic hosts proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
2 Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see!
Hail the Incarnate Deity!

Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel !

Miller.

3 Hail! the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail! the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risen with healing in His wings :
Mild, He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die :
Born to raise the sons of earth;
Born to give them second birth.

1 COME, thou long-expected Jesus!
Born to set Thy people free ;

From our fears and sins release us;
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all Thy saints Thou art ;
Dear desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

C. Wesley.

2 Born Thy people to deliver;
Born a child and yet a king;
Born to reign in us for ever;
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit,
Rule in all our hearts alone :
By Thine all-sufficient merit,
Raise us to Thy glorious throne.

WHILE shepherds watched their flocks by

night,

All seated on the ground,

The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around.

"Fear not," said he, for mighty dread

Had seized their troubled mind;

"Glad tidings of great joy I bring To you and all mankind.

2" To you in David's town, this day,
Is born, of David's line,

A Saviour who is Christ the Lord;
And this shall be the sign:

The heavenly Babe you there shall find
To human view displayed,

All meanly wrapped in swathing bands,
And in a manger laid."

3 Thus spake the angel; and forthwith
Appeared a shining throng
Of angels praising God, who thus
Addressed their joyful song:-
"All glory be to God on high,
And to the earth be peace;

Good-will henceforth from heaven to men
Begin, and never cease.'

1 CHRISTIANS, awake! salute the happy

morn

Whereon the Saviour of mankind was born;
Rise to adore the mystery of love,

Which hosts of angels chanted from above:
With them the joyful tidings first begun
Of God incarnate and the Virgin's Son.

2 Then to the watchful shepherds it was told,
Who heard the angelic herald's voice, "Behold
I bring glad tidings of a Saviour's birth
To you and all the nations upon earth;
This day hath God fulfilled His promised word.
This day is born a Saviour, Christ the Lord."

3 He spake and straightway the celestial choir In hymns of joy, unknown before, conspire; The praises of redeeming love they sang, And heaven's whole orb with hallelujahs rang: God's highest glory was their anthem still; Peace upon earth, to sinful man good-will. 4 To Bethlehem straight the enlightened shepherds ran,

To see the wonders God had wrought for man: Then to their flocks, still praising God, return; And their glad hearts with holy rapture burn: To all the joyful tidings they proclaim; The first apostles of the Saviour's name. 5 Oh! may we keep and ponder in our mind God's wondrous love in saving lost mankind ; Trace we the Babe, who hath retrieved our loss,

From the poor manger to the bitter cross; Tread in His steps, assisted by His grace, Till man's first heavenly state again takes place. 6 Then may we hope, the angelic host among, To join, redeemed, a glad triumphant throng; He that was born upon this joyful day, Around us all His glory shall display; Saved by His love, incessant we shall sing Eternal praise to heaven's Almighty King. Byron.

ARK! what mean those holy voices
Sweetly sounding through the skies?

Lo! the angelic host rejoices,

Heavenly hallelujahs rise.

"Glory in the highest, glory!

Thus they chant their joyful strain,

"Glory in the highest, glory!

Peace on earth, good-will to men."
2 "Peace on earth, good-will from heaven,
Reaching far as man is found;
Souls redeemed and sins forgiven ;-
Loud our golden harps shall sound.
Christ is born, the great Anointed;
Heaven and earth His praises sing!
Oh, receive whom God appointed,
For your Prophet, Priest, and King!
3 "Hasten, mortals, to adore Him:

Learn His name, and taste His joy ;
Till in heaven we sing before Him:
Glory be to God on high!"
Let us learn the wondrous story
Of our great Redeemer's birth;
Spread the brightness of His glory,
Till it cover all the earth.

1 ANGELS! from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation's story
Now proclaim Messiah's birth:
Come and worship!

Worship Christ, the new-born King!

2 Shepherds! in the field abiding,
Watching o'er your flocks by night,
God with man is now residing,
Yonder shines the Infant light.

3 Sages! leave your contemplations,
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great Desire of nations,
Ye have seen His natal star.
