THE

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT.

DEPARTMENT OF TECHNOLOGY

ADMISSION OF STUDENTS

The Technological work of the College is divided into two sections, namely

(1) The Technical Department.

(2) The Technical School.

1. The Technical Department provides lecture and laboratory courses of instruction in the subjects of applied science required in the Engineering, Metallurgical, and Mining Industries.

Applicants for admission to the Technical Department must be over 16 years of age, and are required to pass an Entrance Examination, the subjects of which are named below, or to produce a certificate of having previously passed some equivalent public examination, or otherwise to satisfy the Professors of the respective Departments as to their fitness to take the course.

All students over 16 years of age, who have passed the Entrance Examination (or who are admitted under conditions mentioned above), belong to the Technical Department of the College, and are registered students of the College.

Students who enter for the full course of study take the Lectures, Tutorial Classes, Laboratory, Workshop, and Drawing Office Courses at the Technical Department of the College, St. George's Square, and their pure science subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, at the Arts and Science Department of the College, Leopold Street, at the times specified in the time tables.

Students may take the whole or any portion of the above courses. In the latter case special fees will be arranged. (See list of fees below.)
