SYLLABUS-ELEMENTARY CLASS FOR BEGINNERS.-The Course will include the Elements of Musical Theory and the Rudiments of Harmony, to the treatment of the Dominant Seventh. Composition of Hymn Tunes and easy Anthems. ADVANCED (A) Advanced Harmony, with special reference to Discords, Diatonic and Chromatic. (B) Composition and Musical Form. EXTENSION LECTURES. EXTERNAL LECTURES Arrangements may be made for the delivery of courses of Extension Lectures at any approved centre. The courses will consist of six, eight, or ten lectures,* each lecture being of about an hour's duration, and followed by a class to which all students are admitted free of charge. In this class, questions arising out of the lecture are discussed, and the weekly paper work of the students is criticised. At the end of the course, an examination will be held, which all students who have done a sufficient number of weekly papers to the satisfaction of the Lecturer will be allowed to take. Certificates will be awarded on the results of such examinations. The College is also prepared to consider applications for the delivery of Single Lectures, of a more popular type than the regular courses, at places where a new centre might with advantage be founded. By the aid of funds provided by the City Council, it has been decided to offer three courses of Extension Lectures before Christmas, and three after, in outlying districts of the City.
