i ACKNOWLEDGMENTS TO CORRESPONDENTS. To the gentleman who remonftrates with us refpecting p. 199, we freely antwer that the word "parcel" might have been changed for the better. As to the reft, we see no fufficient reafon for altering our opinion. We have carefully confidered the publication recommended by A Friend to the Church of Ireland, and are convinced that the author writes with a very fuperior knowledge of his fudject, and corrects many material errors of his predeceffors. The plan recommended by Quifquis, has often been the fubject of our contemplations. Many difficulties have hitherto oppofed the execution, but the neceffity is apparent; and we bope, with him, that fomething of the kind may yet be carried into effect. We are feldom cenfured for being too indulgent, if we have been so in the cafe mentioned by Philofophus, we will endeavour to be more guarded when he publishes a book. We should certainly be glad to accommodate a fincere Well-Wilber; who will find that circumftances have obliged us, in part, to follow his fuggeftion. LITERARY INTELLIGENCE.
