Profession of Faith. (a) With the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (b) Be not ashamed of the testimony of our Lord. Whosoever shall confess me before men, (saith our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ) him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven: But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven: And whosoever shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father, with the holy angels. (c) If we deny him, his name, or his faith, he also will deny us. (d) Many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. There are likewise certain ungodly men, who turn the grace of God into lasciviousness, and deny the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (e) Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God. (f) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father; and he shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (g) They that profess that they know God, but in works deny him, are abominable. Trust in Faith. (b) Who is among you that feareth the Lord? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. (i) Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; trust in him at all times. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Commit thy way unto him; trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass. (b) My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from him. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul, therefore will I hope in him. He is my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort. () Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart, who is the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea. (m) Judgment is before him, therefore trust thou in him. (n) Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee. (0) Be careful for nothing, casting all your care upon God; for he careth for you. (p) Take no thought for your life, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (r) The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? In God 1 have put my trust, I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. (s) He also shall be my salvation; though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. (t) God is our refuge and strength; therefore will we not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. (u) Therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of those that believe. And therefore we endure affliction, as seeing him that is invisible. (w) He whose heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord, shall not be afraid of evil tidings, but in quietness and confidence shall be his strength. He hath set the Lord always before him, and because the Lord is at his right-hand, he shall not he moved. (x) Be not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye have heard; but be ye followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (y) All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come. (2) We have the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God, which raiseth the dead. (a) Lean not unto thine own understanding. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool. (b) The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit: He maketh gold his hope; he saith to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence. But he that trusteth in his riches shall fall; for riches profit not in the day of wrath. (c) Trust ye not in a friend; put ye not confidence in a guide, but look unto the Lord; and wait for the God of your salvation. (d) Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help: For it is. better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in princes. 1 (e) Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. But happy is he whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth. For it is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. James 5. 7,8. (y) Job 14. 14. (f) Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God. (g) Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him: The Lord-reigneth, let all the people tremble. (b) Shall not his excellency make you afraid, and his dread fall upon you? Fear ye not me? (saith the Lord) will ye not tremble at my presence? (i) Who would not fear thee, O king of nations? For to thee doth it appertain to do evil and to do good. (k) Say unto God, how terrible art thou in thy works? Thou, even thou art to be feared; and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? While I suffer thy terrors, I am distracted: At thy wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide thy indignation. (1) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; for by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. (m) A wise man feareth and departeth from evil; but a fool rageth and is confident. (n) Stand in awe then and sin not. Serve God acceptably, with godly fear; and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (f) Deut. 6. 1.3. (g) Psal. 33. 8. 13.11. Jer. 5. 22. (i) Jer.
