Pocket

FOR

Locomotive Engineers and Firemen,

BY C. A. HOXSIE,

Embraces practical instructions for the care and management of the Locomotive Engine under all circumstances, and is designed for the use of the Fireman as well as the Engineer, ignoring entirely all fanciful theories, and matters pertaining more especially to Locomotive Builders or Mechanics.

This work has been approved of by many master mechanics on the leading R. R. lines in the country, and by universal consent acknowledged as the best and only work published on the Locomotive that is entirely devoted to the use of Engineer and Fireman.

Price $1.50 per copy, post paid.

Money must accompany all orders, and can be sent with safety by Registered Letter.

All money sent to me by Post Office Orders will be made payable at Providence Post Office, R. I., and send the order to my address.

C. A. HOXSIE,

This Journal is owned and published by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

ITS ENTIRE NET INCOME IS DEVOTED TO CHARITY.

It will contain for the year 1878 articles selected from the best publications that are adapted to the wants and requirements of Locomotive Engineers and their Families, together with such other selections as in our opinion will serve to render it interesting and instructive. It will also contain such Original Matter, Correspondence, etc., as its friends and supporters may contribute, and its publishers deem appro priate; and the opinions of its managers upon such questions as shall come under their observation, and are felt to be of importance to the subscribers.

Terms: One Dollar per year. Copies by mail, $1,12.

To Agents, we offer the same liberal inducements we have previously offered, viz: Ten per cent. premium for all packages of Journals sent to one address. To any Lady who will procure ten Subscribers outside of our Membership, a nicely bound volume of "THE JOURNAL" for 1876.

We will continue to receive a limited amount of advertisements, and we claim that no Magazine of double its circulation affords so many advantages to those having R. R. Improvements or R. R. Supplies to dispose of, as does the JOURNAL, from the fact that its circulation is principally among the class that they most desire to reach-being read as it is monthly by at least 50,000 people in all parts of the United States and Canadas.
