INTRODUCTORY NOTE.

THE following columns of words have been arranged so as to be used progressively while the Pupil is going over the Lessons in the First and Second Sections. It is not intended that they should all be mastered before beginning the Reading Lessons, but it will greatly aid the quickness and accuracy of the child, both in Pronunciation and Spelling, if a portion of these columns be given a prominent place in each days work. The intelligent Teacher will also see it to be of the greatest importance that the Pupil be made to spell on the book, and pronounce correctly, before beginning to read the Lesson for the day, the lists of words prefixed to it, which have been accented and divided with much care for this purpose.

It is hoped that the simple and progressive principle on which this and the two preceding Books of this Series have been compiled will meet the appreciation and approbation of the Educational Public.
